What We Do

Our Vision and Purpose

AHAA will:

  • Advocate for system-wide improvement in equitable access to healthcare for all New Zealanders, to the benefit of patients, patients’ families, and to healthcare professionals dealing with unmet need.

  • Collect experiential data relating to New Zealanders’ unmet healthcare needs, and use data obtained to lobby government for improvement in areas of access concern.

  • Encourage and assist research into access to healthcare and unmet need in New Zealand.

  • Advocate for a public inquiry into unmet colonoscopy needs of symptomatic patients within the SDHB region as evidenced in three separate reviews.

AHAA will not:

  • Provide personal advocacy for individuals. If you are seeking personal advocacy you can find alternative contacts here.

  • Consider data collection by AHAA to be adequate replacement of government efforts to quantify unmet need, as part of their responsibility to the citizens of New Zealand.
